88. A JAR OF DAISIES

Donald Hazen Brown Archive By Don Brown

2006 This painting was begun in a still-life workshop I was attending. I took the painting home and continued to work it to completion. It is a simple composition: a bouquet of cut daisies in a mason jar. The daisy is technically defined as "a leafy-stemmed perennial herb." But for most, it is simply a delightful, delicate flower often associated with spring and love. All I sought to do in this painting was to create precisely that: something delicate and delightful, reminding us of the love of rebirth that we often feel in a new season of spring.
