47A. PEMAQUIDPOINT

Donald Hazen Brown Archive By Don Brown

1985 PERMAQUID POINT. This Light House at Pemaquid Point in Maine is a famous landmark. Many artists, some very prominent, like Edward Hopper, have made this light house a subject of their painting. On a vacation to Maine, we stopped to see the light house and picnicked on the grounds nearby. Armed with photographs I had taken, I some time later created this painting. Places of renown have their own attraction. There are also other attractions in everyone's life that draw us in an even more profound way. Identifying such allurements can be a revelatory moment. They often tell us something about who we are.
