1985 I painted this watercolor from my resource file. Using a great deal of freedom, I reworked the trees and the background. Growing dissatisfied with the painting, I laid it aside unfinished, with the intention of More than a year later, I resurrected the painting, and tried again. This time the objectionable dimensions seemed to work themselves out, and the work was completed. abandoning it altogether. Too often we give up too easily. What looks hopeless, may in fact, be redeemable. Sometimes a situation, like this painting, just needs more of our attention; more of our commitment to see it through. And the results can often be very pleasing and very surprising.
