Beaver Dam Pond, Acadia National Park

Maine By David D. Pearce

This painting is a study in grays, inspired by a visit to Beaver Dam Pond in Acadia National Park, Maine. It shows two beaver dams in the water just off the opposite shore. This began as a value study for a fall foliage picture, but then I became intrigued by the range of grays and decided to make use of a recently acquired Kremer Pigmente pan set of all-gray watercolors to show virtually the entire tonal range from white to black.
