I made the turn on a country road and she took my breath away. Above, the skies rained down with a palpable shift and on the gracious wind there was a subtle recognition and reordering, a realization of all the myriad expressions, deemed good or bad by one group or the other, as held in love and honored for their contribution to the edification of the whole. High on the mountain, her love hugging the curve of the rock formation, she held all the expressions of what it meant to be woman in time. With gentleness and grace, the mother on the mountain watched over the sleeping man too and the angels trapped by the density of this world. The sorrows she had borne, the mysteries she held in her heart—all would come clear in time. She would watch over the brokenhearted and all those acting out the part thrust upon them or adopted by the little ones blinded by the strangeness of this world. And in the fullness of time, they would return to her and meet one another with the same grace she showered down this day. What is your essential story of life? What is alive in you?
