I was swept up in the larger-than-life stories written in the sheer walls of stone near Silver Strand in Malinbeg in County Donegal. Mythical creatures rose up from walls of grey dotted with hollowed-out caves that contrasted sharply with the azure waters in the quiet cove. The dramatic coastal scene called me into a deeper remembrance on this magical day as I listened to the wisdom of stone and sea at the edge of the peninsula in the West of Ireland. This Soul of Place painting is from the Soul of Ireland Collection by Virginia artist Dawn Richerson, who found joy and wonder in the heart of the Emerald Isle where she lived for three years.
