The rain fell that morning and yet, as she stood beside the century-old farmhouse and looked out over the Peaks of Otter, there was only blessing and invitation. Two pillars, guardians of the Blue Ridge, beckoned with a strange stoic serenity, and she knew this was where she would enter into the long-promised time of tranquility. In the curvature of he sloping field there came a certain calm. And so, after a time sitting by the urn of yesteryear, she stretched her heart and leaned into the promised peaks and turned her eye toward the Blue Ridge and all that lay beyond.
