Queen of the raging river, at home on land and sea, she made her way into the deep wood, neither lost nor afraid. From the shore she heard them singing to her and behind her she felt the presence of the guardians. The deluge threatened to consume her yet again—its terror and its beauty. Nevertheless she would heed the call to life and a new Spring's restoration. This Soul of Place painting is from the Claytor Callings Series inspired by experiences at the Claytor Nature Center in Bedford, Virginia.
