Where they fell they left the imprint of courage and the memory of all that was left behind, back home. Their gift would be held in trust through the generations in the woodland and rolling hills they would long remember. Held in the hearts and the heart of these lands connected is the memory of the guardians who held them on those shores so far away. This Soul of Place painting was inspired by an experience and scene at Falling Creek State Park in Bedford, Virginia, and also by the story of the "Bedford Boys" during the Normandy invasion on D-Day. It is part of the Give Me Liberty! series and the Blue Ridge Blessings Collection of paintings by Virginia artist Dawn Richerson.
