Not in Entire Forgetfulness

Spirited Life Paintings By Dawn Richerson

There were fragments and flashes of remembrance of another time, a larger world to which they had belonged. Had the angel of infinite peace pierced before the flowering potential of the great void? Had such a life flowed between them in a distant time, when from the mysteries of recreation had stirred a great wind that, within the silence, birthed their dream? They rise again, not in entire forgetfulness. “Where is it now, the glory and the dream?” Wordsworth asked in his “Ode: Intimations of Immortality,” a poem I cherish. “The soul that rises with us—our life’s star—hath had elsewhere its setting and cometh from afar, not in entire forgetfulness and not in utter nakedness but trailing clouds of glory do we come from God, who is our home.” This painting is inspired by the William Wordsworth poem, "Ode: Intimations of Immortality". This acrylic painting is from the Spirited Life collection. It is inspired by the strangeness and trancelike rhythm of life's elemental and eternal fires that change us from the inside out. Life is composed of many circles of creation and recreation. Spirited Life paintings are variations on the theme of life and dreams of a new world.
