Mating Crane Dance

African Safari By Barry & Cathy Beck

Gray Crowned Cranes are long-legged birds of African grasslands and wetlands, famous for the elaborate courtship dances performed in pairs. Cranes mate for life and enjoy a varied diet by pecking on the ground or searching in the mud for frogs, lizards, seeds and grains. These cranes have inspired artists and conservationists around the world, but some species are now threatened due to habitat loss.
