Fore and Aft Zebras

African Safari By Barry & Cathy Beck

Few animals are as strongly synonymous with Africa as zebras. Zebras live in small family groups, usually consisting of between four and eight, led by a single dominant stallion. The adult mares in the group are usually related. Once they are able to fend for themselves, males are evicted from the herd by their father -- the stallion. When mares reach maturity, they too leave the harem, being lured away by other stallions. While on safaris, guests never tire of photographing zebras. They are loved by everyone.
