Artist: Phillip O'Sullivan My ex often commented on my little colletion of 'waifs and strays' she called them. A little clutch of the lower orders, poor people and lost souls who needed company, biscuits and someone to chat to: my nature I guess. I did not lead any of these astray in any way; only encouraging them in the ways they were already heading. I just always had a small following of lonely kinds, harmless souls who seemed out of sorts. Since I was always fairly well grounded and hoped the best for everyone. Yet now too I need to move on. These long years of experience has taught me much about people. The inertia phase in New Zealand life is over. Things will move rather dramatically for everyone including myself from here on in. The future belongs to he active and deeply committed. The egelaterian average is over. Amateurism is out and a much more decisive, disciplined and deeper intensity for all our lives is in order. Uses artists original Eidetic technique which is an alternative to artificial digital technology and uses the human brains convenient (and faster) visual long and short term memory to elicit imagery from pools of paint stains or charcoal dust and to seek from the paper or canvas itself the prompting imagery that the viewer sees. The skill is in picking out the images revealed. It has a tradition in Leonardo's advice to see landscapes in random stains as in Rorschach like ways; revealing the psychology and habitual 'lookings' of the artist.
