The Sea Captain's House is an icon in the border line of Searsport, on U.S. Rt 1 was abandoned and finally taken down. This is the most photographed house in the state of maine according to an article by the Bangor Daily News on JUne 28, 2018 by Abigail Curtis..This house was owned and built by a former sea captain named John P. Nicholos in 1865.This house used to be a bed and brekfast, called the HOMPORT INN.The house comprised of 12 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, multiple commmon areas, fireplaces and all purpose zones arranged over a whopping 10,254 suare foot floorplan. The site had about an acre and a half sized lot, at 121 East Maine Street, with waterfront access just a short walk away. I've been driving by this house for years and loved it.
