Architecture By Sonya Cromwell

Having lived near Jackson, Mississippi, the painting depicts a collection of historic buildings once prominent in Jackson and placed them on the same fictional street titled “Freedom Street”. The buildings are the Greyhound Bus Station (now a museum), the Alamo Theater located in the once booming African American side of town. And last, the Sun and Sand Hotel once a booming hotel where State legislators stayed when the legislature was in session in the 60s.
