This painting represents the fluidity of abuse. There are bursts of happiness and beautiful moments that override the truth. I was washing away the harm and drowning myself in the excuses of mental and emotional abuse, clingy to the happy moments and hoping they would come back and stay. I watched myself disappear to survive and I longed to recognize the carefree loving woman I once knew. When that day finally came, I could breathe again. Oil on canvas
