The Beaumont Hotel

Old Buildings By Rick D. Adleman

The Beaumont Hotel in Ouray, Colorado was built in 1886 during the "Gold Boom" in the San Juan Mountains. As a child my family often visited this little town and the then abandoned hotel always facinated me. At the turn of this century it was renovated to its current grandeur. I created this piece to honor the architectural beauty of the building and to reflect on the mining heritage of Ouray. The rusting cart represents represents the bygone economic mining boom that has now been replaced by the flowers of tourism.
