Yellow Diamond

This is one of my earliest paintings using mostly palette knives. I love using short strokes of various colors, layered to create this cool effect. The idea of a diamond came after I created the background and I have no idea where it came from! At some point I planned on leaving the diamond a clear yellow, but then thought about what it's like to look at a diamond. You see a reflection of everything that's around it. So it only made sense to reflect the surrounding colors here. The words were added digitally, and are the phrase "yellow diamond" in various languages.
