This is the first painting I did using only palette knives, and one of my first paintings ever. I wanted to paint a sailboat because my dad loved sailing, and I remember sailing on Lake Mendota (Madison, WI) with him when I was younger. I was a bit taken aback by how well it turned out; I'm not a vain person but I had no idea I had the ability to do something like this! This realization inspired me to continue painting. I've done some other palette knife paintings since this one, but this will always hold a special place in my heart.
