I painted this courtyard for my sisters birthday. I was trying to capture the light of the day filtering in from the background to the quiet shelter of the shaded foreground inviting you to a place to rest from the heat of the day. I included elements of spring, summer and fall to create a space of time. I painted this watercolor with masking techniques along with both wet on wet and wet on dry methods. Completed 3-9-21
