A Hyde Park Stroll

Places By Bill Cryer

Hyde Park, which is just north of the University of Texas in Austin, is a lovely old neighborhood abounding in turn-of the century homes that once was on the outskirts of the city and is now considered "inner city." The homes range from the elegant to the solidly bourgeois of the early 20th Century. It has become a much sought-after neighborhood of the upwardly mobile (and the already wealthy). A great walking neighborhood, which is what led me to paint some of the homes that struck my fancy.
