Right about where our house is now there used to be a gigantic elm tree, a huge one that towered over all the other trees. It was also almost exactly at the top of the hill, so it really showed up from the pond below. Crows would frequently hang out in it, so sometimes I would call this Crow Hill. Eventually that tree died of the Dutch Elm disease, and later fell over. The trunk was way over 4 feet in diameter, and it took many, many years to rot away. This photo was taken from our front porch, probably just about where that huge tree once stood. We still have lots of crows and ravens here.
