Dave Simpson

“On the days that I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations...I have really good days"

--- Ray Wylie Hubbard, Singer/Songwriter

Dave Simpson is a self-taught artist who works in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor and graphite. His current focus is primarily on creating works using these mediums in digital form. Creating art has always been a part of Dave's life. However, after a thirty-year career as a bounty hunter, he turned to art full-time as a method of coping with a diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. For the most part, his subjects are abstract images, horses, wildlife, and anything representing western, cowboy, and Native American culture.

As a PTSD survivor, he is a social recluse preferring to spend his time with family, a small circle of close friends and creating art in his studio. With tongue in cheek, Dave says that he considers painting to be a “spiritual and medicative therapy that is far superior to Wild Turkey, pills, and being asked 'How do you feel about that?'”.

A portion of the profits from his work is donated to charities addressing issues with PTSD and veteran/law enforcement suicide.

If you have questions or comments about his work, he welcomes correspondence at D@DSimpson.Art.
