A native of the Mohawk Valley and Adirondacks, Rakowski has been watercolor painting on and off for thirty years. Mostly self taught but credits workshops and visual inspiration from great watercolor artists such as Ralph Murray, Don Getz, Willard Sauter and Edward Cristianna.

His paintings have been juried into the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors, Munson Williams Sidewalk Show and the Lake Placid Center for the Arts Winter Show. His paintings had also been exhibited at the View’s “Winter in Action” invitation show.

He received best in show at the Kirkland Arts Center Four by Four show, best in show twice at the Old Forge Library “Poetry and Illustration” event in addition to being selected into the Masters Division of the Central Adirondack Art Show.

Rakowski has been fortunate to have the Old Forge Library host two of his solo shows. He and his work have been featured in the “localADK” magazine three times.

“Mighty Mite TV” was selected as painting of the month forDecember 2023 for the View Arts calendar.
